Membership options



National Membership ($275): Individuals may join if they are employed in a field related to accessibility in the built environment, pursuing a degree related to accessibility in the built environment, or otherwise interested in accessibility in the built environment.

 

National + Chapter Membership ($275): Members select a Home Chapter at no cost (see below), with the option of adding additional chapters to their memberships.

 

Group Membership: Discounted memberships are available to organizations with five or more individuals that are members of APA. For information on group memberships, contact FrancesEllington@AccessibilityProfessionals.org.

 

Retired Membership ($137.50*): Any APA member may apply for Retired status if 

1) the member either

a) has been in good standing in APA for five successive years immediately prior to application, or 

b) has had a total of at least ten successive or non-successive years of membership in the Association, and has been a member in good standing for at least three successive years immediately preceding the application for Retired membership;

and 

2) the member either 

a) has attained the age of 65 and is retired from the profession of accessibility, or 

    b) is so incapacitated as to be unable to work in the profession.

*The APA Board of Directors, in exceptional circumstances and for adequate cause, and on an individual basis, may partially waive the retired membership requirements and/or dues. For more information, contact FrancesEllington@AccessibilityProfessionals.org.

 


APA Chapters



When you join APA, you will have the choice of adding a Home Chapter to your membership at no cost. Members do not have to live in the state or region of the Chapter.


Chapter benefits include, among others: 

  • Networking with others in your region
  • Brainstorming with other professionals through virtual roundtables
  • Exploring internships and mentorships
  • Learning about the latest from the legislature and making your voice heard
  • Enjoying reduced fees for Continuing Education trainings and conferences

APA currently has two chapters, with more in development:

  • Texas Chapter
  • Rocky Mountain Chapter (Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming)

Memberships currently available:

  • National APA Membership Only
  • National APA Membership + Texas Chapter
  • National APA Membership + Rocky Mountain Chapter

You may add a second chapter to your membership for a fee of $60. Please contact FrancesEllington@AccessibilityProfessionals.org to get that set up.

Continuing Education Credit* - Participants meet the CE/LU requirements of numerous organizations by attending APA Training. APA is an approved CE/LU provider for TDLR Provider (#1521), AIA/CES Provider (#G583), ICC Preferred Provider (#1321), and Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR, #PVD312). APA also provides preverified ACTCP credits on noted courses and has previously awarded an APA-ADA Specialist Designation, an APA-ADA Assembly Area Designation, and an Accessibility Standards completion certificate. APA partners with APAC (Accessibility Professionals Association Certification Program) to provide CE credits.
