Scott P. Moore is widely recognized as a national expert in ADA and fair housing law. Scott is a former senior trial attorney and deputy chief with the Civil Rights Division of the U. S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. While at the Justice Department, he served as lead counsel on some of the largest pattern or practice cases brought by the United States under the Fair Housing Act and ADA across the country. Scott represents individuals, property owners and management companies, nonprofit associations, healthcare facilities, colleges and universities, developers, and architects in all ADA and fair housing matters.


As a person with a disability, Scott brings a unique perspective of the issues that arise under the ADA and fair housing laws. His background, combined with his experience, allows him to offer clients more than just legal advice. He provides his clients with a deep understanding of the complex array of ADA and fair housing requirements. 


Scott is also recognized as a dynamic and informed ADA, fair housing, and Section 504 speaker. Scott is frequently asked to speak to national nonprofit groups, federal and state governmental agencies, the housing and retail industries, colleges and universities, and other industry groups on various ADA, fair housing, and Section 504 topics. Mr. Moore currently serves as a legal specialist for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Fair Housing Accessibility First program.


Scott is named in The Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers. He was recognized in the Lawyer Spotlight by the American Bar Association Commission on Mental and Physical Disability Law. He also serves on the board of directors of the AllPlay Foundation, the Midwest Housing Development Fund, and the Ataxia Foundation.

Keynote: "Barriers in Plain Sight: Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities In the Physical and Virtual World

 

Scott will share his experience as a person with a disability and a lawyer practicing in the area of disability discrimination. He will discuss the barriers to persons with disabilities that persist in housing, transportation, employment, and education and how our ever-increasing reliance on digital communication has created even more challenges. Scott will explore steps that can be taken to take to break down these barriers and create a more inclusive environment for persons with disabilities. He will also address current disability law and how the law needs to evolve to truly create an accessible physical and digital landscape.
