John N. Garra is the founding architect of Square One Architecture. In the early 2000's, he was a pioneer of green building certification in South Florida as he designed and certified several LEED projects, achieving the highest gold level certification.
John has also developed Square One Accessibility Consulting, a branch of his business, to service property owners, managers, and businesses (ranging from small local companies to international corporations and municipalities) seeking to remove architectural barriers as required primarily under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Square One Accessibility Consulting has staff in Denver, New York City, Central and South Florida. Currently, John serves as member of the Florida Building Commission’s Accessibility Technical Assistance Committee.
Born in Buffalo, New York, John began a constant southward migration to complete his professional degree in architecture at the University of Cincinnati before planting his business roots in Fort Lauderdale.
